A small group of us stayed the weekend to celebrate my sister's upcoming marriage and it was the perfect place to relax, eat great food, and just enjoying spending time together! We floated on the lake, played games, and cooked in the amazing kitchen. There were 10 of us and everyone had a bed which is rare with a big group. The lakeside is rocky so I would recommend wearing water shoes but other than that it was perfect!

You can't get a better view from this house. It is right on the lake and it is on a cliff that is maybe 40 feet high. The house itself is unique---the old front is actually way over on the right side and you don't automatically even notice it. The home addition is most likely not that new, and it blends in with the old house very well. There are at least 4 "sitting" rooms on the first floor, so if you want a room all to yourself during the day, there will be no problem! Also, with more than 5000 square feet, there is plenty of space in the house! The kitchen is very well stocked with pots and pans and utensils. The living room is spacious and comfortable. All 4 bedrooms are nicely laid out. The grounds are very pretty. By the lake there were 2 2-man kayaks, which we used a lot. Big laundry room with nice washer and dryer. A couple of small things. We were there during a heat wave, which seem to be increasing in frequency and duration in New England, and the only air conditioner is downstairs, making for a few very warm evenings in the upstairs bedrooms. Also, there are no curtains in the bedrooms. The master bedroom faces the east, and on one particularly clear morning the sun was shining into our room at 5:55 am! So I would advise sleep masks. Overall, though, it is a great house and we had a wonderful time.

Our family had a wonderful time at this house in South Hero, Lake Champlain! The house was clean and beautiful, with plenty of space for our large family, and perfect for a quiet get-away. It is a large house, so would be great for family gatherings. There were also many charming little spots around the house where you could sit and read any of the many, many books available. And it has a beautiful view of the water, so nice to wake up to and enjoy throughout the day. It is a quiet area, which we liked, away from town and crowds, and perfect to spend quality time with family, and just relax. Although the area where you can access the water is small, it was fine for us just to do a little fishing. We did venture out to nearby areas, did some hiking, and visited Burlington. But generally it's a quiet area, with small markets and antique shops. For us it was perfect, a beautiful place to spend time together with our family.

Keavy G, We love hearing from our guests, especially when they have such glowing things to say! Thank you so much for taking the time to leave such a nice review. In regards to the water level, when there is are long, wet winters and springs like we had this year, the water level does tend to be a little higher. This will recede throughout the summer season to reveal a larger waterfront. We hope you reach out to us for your future travel plans so we can host you again! Best, The Evolve Team

We celebrated a milestone birthday with our family. This property is spectacular. We were hoping for warmer spring weather, but got cold snowy winter weather. It was such a gorgeous place....still fabulous. We enjoyed the beautiful kitchen, and prepared most meals. Burlington is close by and we had a great experience at an Escape Room there...it took all of us working together to get out. Fun family outing. We all agree, we can't wait to go back.

My husband and I spent a heavenly week here with another family and our two dogs -- a total of seven people (three adults, four children) and two dogs. The house is large enough for everyone to have their own space/privacy, with wonderful gathering places for cooking (the kitchen is well stocked with dishes, flatware, cooking tools and is overall WOW!), dining, watching movies and of course enjoying the outdoors. The lawn is perfect for lounging and staring at the gorgeous panorama from Mount Mansfield to Camel's Hump and beyond...and was also large and flat enough for badminton and fetch with the dogs. The stairs to the dock are steep and long, but the beauty of Lake Champlain made it worth the steps ever time. We were able to carry two rental kayaks (delivered by Hero's Landing in North Hero) down the stairs, meaning our week included kayaking as well as swimming, and fishing off the end of the dock. Each morning, we walked our dogs a few miles down nearby country roads, lined with wildflowers. The location is a good one for running errands -- a market within ten minutes and proper grocery stores within 20/30 minutes. Thank you to the property owners and manager; we absolutely loved our time on Paradise Lost and truly didn't want to leave!

This was a perfect retreat for a family gathering! The home and gardens were lovely, and we truly felt at home, with all of the comforts of home. The kitchen was well stocked with appliances, cookware, glassware and tableware once we located it! We appreciated the directions left in the Welcome Book. Only complaints were the hard to use entry lock and the fact that the facilities weren't particularly handicap accessible. We also wish that the double beds in the North wing were queen size beds. Overall, we loved this home and it's glorious location on Lake Champlain!

My husband and I got married here in 2007, what a wonderful place to have an event!!!! The views are amazing, there is plenty of parking and a lot of activities for your guests! We loved it at Paradise Lost so much that we returned annually for vacation, eventually bringing our small children there. The house is beautifully crafted and well designed, but it is the mountain and lake views that make this place unforgettable. The way the sunset changes the colors of the mountings and lakes is breathtaking, who knew a sunset from the other side could be so beautiful! But you also get the moon rising over the water, and trust me that just tops off the breezy, comfortable, spectacular evenings! As a family we loved swimming in the lake, or going out on a rented boat to explore. Even though you do not need anything else, South Hero is just a few minutes away for anything you may have forgotten. This is a special place where you and your family, friends or work group can make great memories and enjoy the perfect slice of Vermont!

My friends and I have been coming here from NYC for Labor Day Weekend every year for the past five years, and is hands down our favorite respite from the craziness of the city. When we first arrived, it turned out to be exactly as depicted on the website - wonderful views of the lake, the surrounding mountains and plenty of places to relax. Each time we come back, the entire house is spotlessly clean and the linens and towels are generously supplied even for our larger group.
In general, the property could not be better located for a long weekend getaway for people that want to escape from the busy life in NYC. The house is large enough for everyone to have their own space, but the porch is a perfect cozy spot for us to get together and relax. The kitchen is spacious and perfect for making large group meals, and the grill in the back is great as well! The suggestions provided by the host are spot on to what we are looking for. When we do manage to leave the house, the nearby towns provide ample antique shopping, quality food (especially Wally's Place for breakfast, definitely get the bagel chips for a snack on the car ride home!), and Burlington is not too far for those that want to explore.
Overall this is an fantastic place to stay if your group is looking for a cute, cozy place to kick back and relax. We love it!
Thanks for taking the time to write a review, Mel! We are happy you found this great spot to relax and get away from the city. Hope to see you again next year!

My husband and I have enjoyed an annual vacation at this property for the past 8 years and look forward to our South Hero retreat all year long. The property is exquisite and the stunning sunrise views (from nearly every room in the house!) over Lake Champlain are a wonderful start to our mornings. The owners of the property have truly thought of everything visitors could need - a first-floor master and laundry, screened seating to enjoy the breeze without insects, a fire pit and grill for BBQs and late-night s'mores, and a kitchen to outshine all kitchens. The perfectly private property is at the end of dirt road that is a fantastic walk or jog, and our son loves looking for cows in the pastures that line the road.
Wineries, markets and the famous Seb's are all within a short drive, and provide everything we could need during our visits.
We are so thankful to have found this home and to be able to celebrate our summers in such a special and idyllic location.

My husband and I were luckily enough to get married at this elegant property six years ago. The house included every aspect we could possibly need. The two upstairs bedroom suites with beautifully appointed bathrooms, at opposite ends of the house, were located perfectly so we could get ready in private. Also, ascending down the front stairs into the foyer to meet my Dad was an unforgettable beginning to my procession. The moonrise and sunset colors over the gorgeous mountain view was a backdrop unlike any other. We stayed overnight at the property since we decided to have our reception and campfire after party at the property as well. Since the house has such a private location we were not worried about bothering neighbors with our noise. The next morning we enjoyed the exquisite lake and mountain views from almost every window in the house, cooking breakfast in the lovely kitchen and sitting in the cozy porch. There is plenty of space to meander around and take in the splendid gardens, along with a great dock and deck space down by the water. Each room flows into another with comfortable furniture, cozy finishings, and loads of seating for everyone. The small town has everything you could need with ice cream stand, food joints, local stores, winery, and farm stalls. So many great places to shop and eat! This property will always been in our memories because we go back to visit every year on our anniversary. We are so grateful that we found this amazing location to get married and are so happy to have it permanently documented in all of our stunning pictures.
